This unit will focus on the three main components of fluid spheres: hydrosphere, atmosphere and cryosphere. Students will observe weather patterns, water cycles, clouds, condensation, and El NiƱo. Analysis of them will will teach their underlying processes. They will question and address how it impacts the biota and human life. Questions will be posed such as if human life might effect fluid spheres and how we might solve related problems.
I would like to put these ideas into historical context because it would help students understand the vast power of these systems and it would help see how these processes are in very intimate contact with the human environment. I would also like to lead the unit with questions to help with inquiry, but also to get them thinking in a more open-minded way. This unit will ultimately address the question of human life affecting fluid spheres, and in order to think about this question, they must first realize that many processes are not straight forward with 1 result, but complex patterns with sweeping effects that cross oceans and affect entire countries.
